TAWAU, Dec 14, 2025: A total of 30 stilt houses were completely destroyed in a late-night fire at Kampung Sri Aman, Lorong Jade 4, Jalan Apas, here.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 11.23pm on Dec 13, with the first fire engine arriving at the scene at 11.32pm, about seven kilometres from the station.
The fire was brought under control at 12.44am, and the operation was fully concluded at 3.10am.
Operations Commander, PBK I Suheizan Sahak said the fire involved an estimated affected area of 262 by 229 square feet. No casualties were reported.
He said the firefighting operation was carried out in several phases, involving initial, secondary and tertiary suppression operations using fire hydrants, water tankers, and open water sources (seawater) with multiple hose lines and nozzles to contain the blaze.
“The fire crew successfully prevented the fire from spreading further and saved about 300 nearby houses,” he said.
