The Sabah government remains confident that the struggle for Sabah’s constitutional rights will not be in vain, said state Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. - NSTP/MOHD ADAM ARININ
Masidi said the Sabah government also welcomes the decision of the High Court, which affirms Sabah’s constitutional right to the 40 per cent special grant under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
"On this occasion, on behalf of the Sabah government, I would like to express our highest appreciation to the Sabah Law Society.
"This decision is an important milestone that reflects the success of Sabah’s persistent, continuous and consistent efforts in upholding and defending the state’s rights, alongside constructive cooperation with the federal government," he said while tabling of the 2026 Budget at State Legislative Assembly sitting here.
Masidi, who is also state deputy chief minister, said the first meeting of the Special Grant Negotiation Committee was held on Nov 17.
Last week, the Prime Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had also given assurance that there will be another meeting by mid of next month about the payment of Sabah entitled 40 per cent revenue.
"Sabah government remains confident that the struggle on Sabah constitutional rights undertaken by all parties will not be in vain.
"That this rightful claim will bring significant benefits to all Sabahans." Masidi said.
