KOTA KINABALU: Sabah civil servants will get special financial assistance equivalent to one month's salary or at minimum RM2,000.
State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the aid was for all state civil servants, including those under contract, open vote and daily paid categories.
"This special financial assistance will benefit 18,853 personnel, with an estimated financial implication of RM52.6 million.
"This financial assistance will be paid in two stages in 2026, which is in February before Hari Raya Aidilfitri and before Kaamatan.
"This will also be extended to Sabah government pensioners, amounting to RM1,000, which will be disbursed next year," he said when tabling the 2026 Budget at the Sabah Legislative Assembly building here.
Masidi ,who is also Sabah deputy chief minister, said the civil service was the backbone of the Sabah government and must consistently operate with efficiency and effectiveness to provide the best services to all segments of society.
He said the government also allocated RM7.6 million to promote lifelong learning among civil servants, aiming to develop officers who are knowledgeable, highly skilled and analytically proficient, with future leadership qualities.
A total of RM16.85 million was allocated to all Sabah agencies involved in human capital development to ensure civil servants are trained, efficient and equipped with the knowledge and skills to face current challenges.
