After Wong concluded his speech, Kadzim asked whether he was able to speak in English. However, the Parti Warisan lawmaker replied: “No.”
“I appreciate your effort in speaking Malay,” Kadzim said.
Wong, 53, a former businessman, had earlier come under scrutiny following his swearing-in speech last week, during which he appeared to struggle to complete several sentences in Malay.
However, Wong explained that the stuttering was due to nervousness during the ceremony.

Earlier during the debate, Wong urged the Sabah Government to consider providing subsidies for chicken and eggs, particularly for those in the Bottom 40 (B40) income group.
“The prices of daily necessities, including chicken and eggs, continue to rise, and this has greatly burdened the people, especially large families, fishermen and daily wage earners.
“Such subsidies would help ease the cost-of-living pressure and ensure that the public can obtain basic food supplies at reasonable prices,” he said.
Wong also called for annual allocations to repair village bridges in the Karamunting area, particularly in coastal villages, noting that many bridges are frequently damaged due to weather conditions, seawater exposure and daily use.
