The teacher is alleged to have assaulted students using a helmet outside a cyber cafe and has been arrested by police for investigations.
“The decision to suspend the teacher was made by the tahfiz centre’s management board.
"It is an initial step to ensure that investigations can be conducted transparently and comprehensively," he said when met by the media after the Press Conference on the Announcement of the Official Results of the 2025 Lower Religious Certificate Examination and Religious Secondary Certificate Examination.
He added that the tahfiz centre is a private institution legally registered with JHEAINS.
However, management and disciplinary action against teaching staff fall under the authority of the institution’s governing board.
“A JHEAINS team has conducted a site visit to the tahfiz centre and obtained a full report as soon as the issue went viral.
“The main matters receiving serious attention are the capacity and qualifications of teachers, particularly in cases involving student abuse,” he said.
