KOTA KINABALU: Underperforming leaders of government-linked companies (GLCs) will face action, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Acknowledging that each GLC and statutory body has different mandates — some focused on commercial returns and others on social services — the Chief Minister stressed that all entities are equally responsible for demonstrating high levels of commitment, efficiency and integrity.

He called on all organisational heads to establish clear and measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with their respective mandates.

“Every appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Group General Manager (GGM) and General Manager (GM) must contribute responsibly, as expected by both the government and the people, to help drive Sabah’s progress.

“With more structured monitoring and stronger accountability, the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 agenda will be implemented more effectively and deliver direct benefits to the people of Sabah,” he said after chairing the state Cabinet meeting here.

The meeting also decided that all GLC and statutory body leaders must submit written performance reports every three months directly to the Chief Minister, starting next year.

Hajiji said the move is intended to ensure the State Government receives timely and accurate information on project progress, financial health, service delivery and the overall performance of each organisation.

“This measure is crucial to monitoring the performance of every entity,” he said, adding that those who fail to submit their reports, do not meet their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), or show unsatisfactory performance will have their positions reviewed, including possible reassignment or termination.
