24-year-old hiker rescued after fainting at Bukit Padang



KOTA KINABALU A 24-year-old woman was rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department after she fainted while hiking at Bukit Padang, near Taman Botani Tun Fuad Stephens, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 4.59pm reporting an unconscious hiker in the area near Klinik Mesra Bukit Padang.

A rescue team from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station, comprising nine personnel, was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 5.25pm, about five kilometres from the station.

Operations commander PBK I Saflan Sapri said firefighters had to hike approximately 250 metres to reach the victim, who had collapsed during the hike.

“The victim was found unconscious but later regained consciousness. She was then safely brought down using a stretcher,” he said in a statement.

The woman was subsequently handed over to Health Ministry personnel and transported by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital for further treatment.
