KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner's Court was told that a meeting among teachers at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha on July discussed preparations following the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

The 61st witness, Mohd Sham M Nasir, said the meeting held on July 17 last year was related to the then 13-year-old.

"I could not really recall what the meeting was about, but it was about the 'arwah' (the late Zara Qairina)," the 61st witness, Mohd Sham M Nasir, testified.

"At that time, the case was already in social media. The meeting was about what had to be done and how to prepare for any possibilities."

The 27-year-old teacher added that he also told the meeting about the spot check conducted at Zara Qairina's class on July 14.

He was responding to questions from lawyer Shahlan Jufri regarding the meeting held after Zara Qairina was found unconscious on the ground floor of the school dormitory on July 16, 2025. Shahlan is representing Zara Qairina's mother in the inquest.

In the previous proceedings, witnesses had testified that the meeting discussed the chronology of the incident and the contents of Zara Qairina's diaries.

The Coroner's Court adjourned at 11.39am and will resume next week.

On Monday, the inquest is expected to hear testimony from the mother of one of the five children accused in the bullying charges involving Zara Qairina.

Two witnesses from Zara Qairina's former primary school are expected to be called on Tuesday, while the court is scheduled to revisit SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha on Friday.
