KOTA KINABALU: Dr Ramzah Dambul, a climatologist, has put his thoughts on man's search for love into a book entitled Alien Menchari Chinta.
The 114-page book containing 55 poems and 51 doodles was launched at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) yesterday.
The poems, with free and restrospective spelling of words, revolve around all kind of emotions experienced by human beings.
As Ramzah comes from Ranau, a majority Dusun native district, he also uses local words in most of his artworks.
Those words include tapuk (hide), limpas (passed by), sogit (penalty), sumandak (lass) that are explained in a glossary page.
The climatologist, a UMS lecturer and researcher, scribbled features of men and women in affectionate poses in some of the doodles.
Ramzah started producing these works since 2005, and was recently encouraged by Malaysian writer Saharil Hasrin Sanin to publish them.
"From him, I learned that imperfection contributes to the classical value in certain arts.
"We shouldn't imprison ourselves by setting an unrealistic benchmark," he said in his preface.
The book, priced at RM25 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM30 in Sabah and Sarawak, is available in major bookstores.
Present at the book launch was state assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
