PAPAR: The Malaysian Health Promotion Board (MySihat) has received a RM16 million grant from the Federal Government this year for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) nationwide to hold health-related programmes.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Yahya Baba said the funding was for non-profit organisations registered with the Registrar of Societies."NGOs can submit their applications together with the projects' proposal that will include types of activities, target population and budget estimation.
"Our board members will assess whether the proposed activities are appropriate and meet our objectives in promoting healthy lifestyle among the public," he told reporters during the 10,000 steps programme here last Saturday.
Dr Yahya said the board was glad to fully finance activities that were related to sports and cultural performances.
"We had earlier supported aerobics, Zumba dance, musicals and theatrical performances.
"Last year, the board approved a RM1.2 million grant to 296 NGOs in Sabah for similar projects."
