Musa:Shun racial politics


KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional  had and will always give fair opportunity for everyone, regardless of their backgrounds, to have better quality of life.
  State Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged people not to be swayed by opposition's brand of racial politics which created tension in Sabah.
  "There is no room for race-based politics here, something that the opposition used for their political mileage.
  "Be cautious of what they say as they will fail to fulfil should they come into power,"he said in a welcoming speech during an appreciation dinner with Federation of Chinese Associations here on Tuesday.
   Speaking to members of 134 Chinese associations under the associations, Musa expressed gratitude their contribution in developing the the state through trade and investment, as well as in social and political arenas.
   "We are aware that you always give back to society, irrespective of background, through society projects and relevant initiatives that help lessen the burden of those who need help.
   "In the field of politics, chinese community have always had a strong presence, allowing the community to use this platform to air grievances and to suggest improvement to policies,"he added.
   While stressing that the economic prosperity in Sabah today is due to political stability and the efficiency of the government administration, he called on the Chinese community in Sabah to keep backing the present government to bring Sabah and Malaysia to the next level of development/
   The government, in return, has always support non-muslim religious bodies and provide assistance to vernacular and missionary schools.
  Musa also highlighted the various initiatives by the Federal government to turn Malaysia into a high income nation by 2020 which include the Government Transformation Programme  (GTP) and the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
   Those programmes are on track and creating spin-offs including quality jobs and higher income throughout the nation.
   He congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was also present as guest of honor, for the latter's efforts had bear fruits.  
   "The state is throwing full support behind those initiatives, especially the ETP which Sabah is actively participating in through the oil and gas, palm oil and tourism sectors.
  "We are upbeat about what the future holds for Sabah through the programme and I wish to call on all Malaysians in Sabah to support them."
