KOTA KINABALU: Forty-one luxury cars stolen from Brunei and worth RM4 million will be returned there in stages, starting from today.
Sabah police deputy commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the cars were seized during a three-month operation two years ago.
The cars included Mercedes-Benz, Toyota Lexus, BMW and Mitsubishi Evolution.
Tan said Brunei police had sought their help over the matter.
"We have arrested seven suspects," he said.
A policeman and a Brunei national have been charged in court.
Tan added that the cases were ongoing.
He said this after inspecting the seized cars at the state police contingent headquarters yesterday.
The other suspects, all locals, have been released.
Present was Brunei Criminal Investigation Department director Senior Assistant Commissioner Pengiran Wahab Pengiran Omar.
Wahab said no arrests were made on their side.
