KOTA KINABALU: A restaurant manager charged with raping an underaged girl was back in court today to face three charges of corruption.
Riduan Masmud, 40, was alleged to have offered and paid money to the father of the 13-year-old girl in a bid to get him to retract the rape report.
He was charged with:
* offering the girl's father RM5,000 between 9pm to 10pm outside the security post at a higher learning institute along the Tuaran by-pass here on April 18;
* giving the girl's father RM2,000 as an inducement for him to retract the rape report at the same place and time; and
* giving RM3,000 to the girl's father for the same purpose at the Naga Emas Canteen along Jalan Tuaran Lama here between 11pm and midnight on April 18.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Sessions judge Caroline Bee Majanil set bail at RM2,000 with one surety pending mention on June 21.

On Feb 28 Riduan was charged with raping a minor on Feb 18 in Inanam near here. A public uproar followed when word surfaced about Riduan offering to marry the girl so that the rape charge could be dropped.
