KOTA KINABALU: Twenty one police personnel affected by floods in Tenom and Beaufort early this year received RM10,500 cash aid from a special fund raised by the Royal Malaysian Police(PDRM).
Its Management Department director Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the donation, which collected via payroll deduction of 120,000 PDRM staff, was a symbol of solidarity of the team towards affected colleagues.
“The one-off emolument deduction amount ranged from RM5 to RM100 depending on staff’s rank.
“Other sources from PDRM welfare fund and non-governmental organisation have also contributed to total of RM1.5 million for the fund,” he said during the cash presentation ceremony at police headquarters here yesterday.
Fuzi hoped the aid could alleviate the burden of about 1,500 personnel from here, Sarawak, Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, among others during the worst flood in December last year and January this year.
Those who lost their homes in the flood will receive RM1,500 each, while others with loss amounts to less than RM30,000 get RM500.
“I would like to advise police personnel to prioritise their safety while executing duty in time of disasters,” he added.
The same donation will also be given to 20 police personnel in Sarawak this month.
Present was Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman.
