Couple relish caring service.

KOTA KINABALU: Parents of first baby girl born at newly opened Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu here had pleasant experience throughout their three-night hospital stay.

The couple Shamsuddin Samsu Baharun and Surianah Golbin from here welcomed their newborn who weighed at 3.06 kilogrammes last Friday, which was coincided with the hospital’s soft opening day.

Both shared the same sentiment on mother and child services provided by the hospital team were of the very best kind.  

“Nurses were very caring throughout the process right from admission to discharge procedures,” said the mother who delivered the third child via caesarean section.

Consultant Paediatrician Dr Fauziah Zainal Abidin said the father who was allowed in the operation theatre was thrilled to witness the birth of his daughter.

“All of us present in the operating theatre were excited as the baby was placed on her mother's chest immediately upon delivery.

“That was a perfect start for both the mother and baby in preparation for a successful breastfeeding journey.”

Other consultants involved during the hospital’s inaugural caesarean operation were obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Alagammai Ramanathan and anaesthesiologist Dr Vinodh Suppiah.

The hospital’s women and children services are taken care by well-trained and experienced doctors and nurses.

As Gleneagles emphasises patients’ safety and quality healthcare, the latest of best technology are equipped at labour rooms, operating theatre as well as at the neonatal intensive care unit.

Its chief executive officer Jean-Francois Naa also revealed early next year the hospital would also have water birthing facility for mothers who opt for more natural birth experience.

Maternity package for normal delivery starts from RM2,888 while the elective caesarean section delivery starts from RM5,788.

Meanwhile, other centres of excellence offered by the hospital are for heart, digestive system, bone and joint conditions as well as emergency and critical care.

Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu is the newest addition to Parkway Pantai which is one of the region's largest integrated healthcare groups.
