(SSPN) and RM200 worth of prizes.

Sarawak were competitive.
“We did our best during the presentation and were glad judges liked our idea which focuses on prevent accidents among the
community.
“The school looks forward to
working with Polytechnic Kota Kinabalu to install similar alert system at flood-prone areas,” she added.
Their team's project, dubbed as “Awas! Bahaya Di Hadapan” (Beware!
Danger ahead), aims at preventing motorists from crossing flooded bridge.
When the water level
rises, the sensor will activate LED warning signboards and alarm police to put
barriers at both ends of the bridge.
Principal Kusdi
Ribut said the school may use the prize money for programmes aimed at nurturing students' creativity.
A portion of the fund will be invested in solar energy to boost the efficiency of the flood-alert
system.
In the beginning,
Petronas had provided every participating school a startup fund of RM2,000.
SMK Tamparuli students
managed to raise RM30,000 from garage sales, fund-raising concerts, selling
recycled items and doing odd jobs among others to get money for the project.
