Operation Santa Jingle Belly to help the needy

KOTA KINABALU: A hotel here launched a donation drive for its guests to contribute presents to be distributed to the needy this Christmas.

Dubbed “Operations Santa Jingle Belly”, the campaign sees Promenade hotel Kota Kinabalu setting up a corner for guests to drop their gifts at its lobby where a big Santa Claus is placed until Jan 8.

Hotel general manager Hafizan Wong said the hotel would channel the donations to two shelter homes.

They are Bukit Harapan in Tuaran and Rumah Bakti Harapan in Inanam. Residents at both homes are either mentally or physically challenged, homeless, orphans or single parents.

“We hope that this Charity drive makes a difference for both homes especially during these festive seasons.

“Sometimes, it is the little things that occupy the biggest part of their hearts.

“This is also a way for the hotel to contribute back to society as we continue to carry out corporate social responsibility with the support from our team,” he added.

The launch was followed by Christmas carolling by some 20 residents of Bukit Harapan Tuaran, bringing everyone into the festive mood prior to a hosted Christmas Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner with the media.

Residents were feted with the hotel’s signature Christmas dishes including mini snowman and Christmas Chocolate Buns, butter cream Alaskan king crab with bay leaves, roast whole turkey with crudites among others.
