KOTA KINABALU: Sabah to date has signed up 12,500 individuals as Sahabat Gerakan Revolusi Anti Rasuah (Sahabat Gerah) to support the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) efforts to combat corruption.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Sazali Salbi said the figure was among the total 160,000 Sahabat Gerah nationwide recorded since August last year when the movement was launched.
Its main aim is to encourage the community to go against bribery and power abuse, he said when launching a women movement dubbed G-War to fight corruption here today.
Sazali added that out of the total nationwide, 60,000 of Sahabat Gerah are women, and G-War will address the role of women as a wife, mother and sister that will lead the way in a family institution and influence the society.
"Women has the strength to bring changes not only to their families but also to the nation.
"So every woman should guide their husband and family members to stay away from corruption and power abuse," he added.

"I am honoured to be chosen as the icon for G-War and as a civilian, we can join hands with the Commission to fight against corruption.
"In future, there will be a lot of activities (for G-War to be announced by MACC) and I will engage in activities interlink with fitness or get-together sessions."
