KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) has recorded RM165 billion in cumulative investments since it was established a decade ago.
Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said SDC had made a positive impact on the state’s development.
He said it had reduced the development gap between Sabah and other states.
In line with Sabah’s Halatuju agenda, SDC’s focus is to develop tourism, agriculture, oil, gas and energy, manufacturing and logistics, as well as human capital.
“During the 11th Malaysia Plan, SDC will place more emphasis on enhancing global connectivity to ensure the smooth movement of people, goods and services,” said Musa at the launch of the 10th SDC anniversary carnival, here, on Thursday.
“This emphasis is timely when the national and state economies are becoming more diverse, with high value added as well as service-centric and knowledge-intensive.
“Efforts will be geared towards enhancing the efficiency of the logistics sector by upgrading key infrastructure and integrating land, sea and air services, which include upgrading the Sapangar Bay Container Port and airport expansion works,” he said.
Musa’s speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
Also present were Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah.
