KOTA KINABALU: The Sessions Court here has fixed July 27 as the mention date for two brothers to enter their pleas for raping their sister.
The duo, aged 26 and 24, appeared before Sessions Registrar Rani Maan in chambers on a charge under Section 375 of Penal Code for rape.
If convicted, they can be jailed not less than 10 years or not more than 30 years.
On June 6, at about 2am, both allegedly raped their 17-year-old sister at a village in Papar near here.
It was reported that both were intoxicated during the incident.
One of the brothers allegedly covered the victim’s mouth while the other took a scissors to cut her pants off before raping her.
Both of them, who were unrepresented, told the court that they were working and have to support family members.
However, deputy public prosecutor Dinesh Raja said the case was a serious offence and both are the siblings of the victim.
Rani did not grant bail for the two men.
