KOTA KINABALU: A hotel baked a 1.2km-long Yule log cake to raise funds for conservation efforts.
The fundraising by Hyatt Regency hotel here was in support of the Ara Dinawan Island Coral Reef Conservation Programme. The cake will be sold for RM10 per 10cm.
A Hyatt Regency hotel spokesperson said the team, led by executive sous chef Adrian Chong and pastry chef head Ismail Saidan, took five days to complete the project.
“They were assisted by 20 culinary pastry students from Asian Tourism International College of Kota Kinabalu.
“The hotel is attempting to break the Guinness World Record with its longest Yule log cake at 1,270.55m,” the hotel said.

The ingredients comprised 700kg of chocolate sponge mix, 150kg of eggs, 170 litres of cooking oil, 125kg of butter, 350kg of dark chocolate, 350 litres of whipped cream, 50kg of sugar, 5kg of cocoa powder and 30kg of icing sugar.
