It was reported that 7,200 students are returning to the state during the fourth phase of Movement Control Order (MCO). STR/YUN MIKAIL KOTA KINABALU: Students returning from Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak are exempted from being quarantined at the designated centres, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. It was reported that 7,200 students are returning to the state during the fourth phase of Movement Control Order (MCO). "They, including Yayasan Sabah sponsored students, are required to undergo 14 days of home quarantine. "Parents or guardians have to be responsible and abide by all procedures set by the Sabah Health Department (JKNS)," he said in a statement. However, Shafie said students with symptoms will have to be quarantined two weeks at designated centres subject to evaluation and recommendations from the health authorities. As of yesterday, states with red zone districts include Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Sarawak. Meanwhile, state Health director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said the MCO had helped contain the infection and flatten the curve. As of yesterday, Sabah has 60 active cases still being treated at the hospitals. "Therefore, the mass movement of varsity students returning home has to be managed well. "This is to ensure the performance now can be maintained for the wellbeing of all people in Sabah," Dr Christina said in another statement. The quarantine centres in the state are now accommodating 704 people. |
