KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has allowed public swimming pools to re-open one week earlier than the date announced by the Federal government.
Apart from swimming pools, billiard and snooker halls, as well as a number of forecast operators, are also allowed to resume business.
"The business operation hours will be subject to standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Health Ministry and local authorities," Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said in a statement.
Three days ago, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that recreational swimming at private pools at hotels, gated residences, apartments and condominiums could resume from July 1 onwards.
Starting today, Sabah will also allow business people and investors to enter the state.
"However, they have to fill up a health declaration form and abide by the SOPs from state Health Department.
"Permission for them to enter is also subject to regulations under the Sabah Immigration Department."
Shafie also said that the people should continue avoiding confined and crowded places, as well as close conversations in order to prevent infections.
As of yesterday, Sabah recorded 366 Covid-19 cases, with nine people still in hospital.
