KOTA KINABALU: Parents are encouraged to visit schools to personally check the standard operating procedures (SOP) should they be hesitant about sending their children back to classes.
Sabah Education director Mistrine Radin said it would be up to parents should they opt not to send their children back to school, especially if it was related to health issues.
"There is no punishment for that. But we encourage parents to come and see the schools on the arrangements made.
"Hopefully, they are confident and willing to send their children back to school," she said, adding that the attendance for Forms 5, 6 and preschools had been encouraging.
Mistrine said this at the state-level Teachers Day celebration here.
Present was state federal secretary Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor.
On July 15, the reopening of schools will involve students from Form 6 (Semester 1), Form 1 to Form 4; and Year 5 and Year 6 for primary schools, as well as remove classes.
On July 22, Year 1 to Year 4 pupils will return to school.
Meanwhile, on the reopening of schools for all students starting July 15, Mistrine said the department was in the process of guiding them on the SOP and other guidelines.
"Out of more than 1,000 schools in Sabah, only 10 schools in the town areas or those that have to share schools are going to implement the model 3 approach.
"Model 3 is to have rotational schooling sessions for the students, whereby a batch will go this week while the other the following week," she said, adding that there were three models for school administrators to implement the SOP.
Model 1 is the single schooling session, which could operate as usual due to the adequate number of classrooms or space to cater to all students.
Model 2 involves two sessions for schools that lack the space to accommodate all students in one session.
