KOTA KINABALU: All public transportation services, except taxis, e-hailing and food delivery, here, will be temporarily halted beginning tomorrow.

Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) chairman Datuk Chin Kim Hiung said the suspension order was in line with the implementation of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in the state capital, Penampang and Putatan.

Taxi or e-hailing services were allowed to operate between 6am and 8pm, while food delivery services hours were from 6am to 6pm.

"All passengers, taxi drivers and workers involved with the allowed services are required to wear masks and sanitise their hands.

"It is compulsory to practice physical distancing and the maximum number of passengers is two," he said in a statement, adding that vehicles too need to be frequently disinfected.

Passengers with symptoms are not allowed to use the public transport services.

Several government agencies such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Immigration Department offices in the CMCO areas are also closed until further notice.

According to an EPF statement, all its office and counters will be temporarily closed, and all prior online appointments will be cancelled with immediate effect.

"Members who have made appointments to visit the Kota Kinabalu office during the CMCO period will have to reschedule their appointments after the control order is lifted.

"Members and employers are urged to opt for EPF's online services, i-Akaun (member) and i-Akaun (Employer), which are operating as usual," it said, adding that payment for contributions can still be made through internet banking or over the counter at registered bank agents.

Meanwhile, the Immigration offices at the Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex, Kota Kinabalu Urban Transformation Centre and Wisma Dang Bandang will also close.

However, all entry points in Sabah remain open.
