KOTA KINABALU: A two-week Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be imposed at three locations in the Sabah east coast from tomorrow.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the move is made in line with the advice and risk assessment by the Health Ministry for the Tawau Temporary Detention Centre in Tawau and the Sandakan Prison and Taman Wira Prison Quarters.

As for EMCO in Anjung Teduh FELDA Sahabat in Lahad Datu, it will be extended from Nov 7 until 20.

"Meanwhile, the National Security Council has also agreed to end the EMCO in six localities in Semporna and another one in Kunak tomorrow.

"However, those localities are still subject to statewide Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)," he said in a statement.

The localities in Semporna are Kg Bangau-Bangau Darat, Kg Bangau-Bangau Hujung, Kg Halo and Kg Ubian; Kg Panji; Kg Air; Kg Selamat; Kg Simunul; and Kg Pinggir Bakau as well as Kg Pengkalan in Kunak.

Today, Sabah recorded 564 new Covid-19 cases with five deaths.

The Sabah state capital remains the location with highest number of cases at 183, followed by Sandakan (120), Tawau (107), Lahad Datu, Tuaran and Papar (22), Putatan (19), Penampang (18), Keningau and Kunak (10), Kudat (8), Semporna (6), Kota Marudu (5), Kota Belud (4), Beluran and Beaufort (2), Pitas and Telupid (1).

Masidi, who is also state Local government and Housing minister, said the Sandakan prison cluster has contributed to 73 out of 120 cases in the district.

Two new clusters have been identified; Sutera (15 cases) in Kota Kinabalu and Ria (9 cases) in Tuaran respectively.

The index case for the Sutera cluster had shown symptoms on Nov 2 and was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital while Ria's index case was detected via a community screening on Nov 1 and is receiving treatment at the low-risk treatment centre in Sepanggar.
