KOTA KINABALU: Hotels here are resorting to different strategies to reach out to patrons during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Sutera Harbour Resort is offering takeaway food for as low as RM10, which usually costs between RM18 and RM28.

Its Magellan Sutera Resort general manager Adrian De Rozario said the objective for lowering the price is to get the volume, in terms of sales.

"There have been good responses among residents and corporate offices and banks.

"Their favourites include our special set menu and combo sets, as well as oxtail Assam Pedas," he said, adding that the promotion will be extended as the MCO will be going on until Feb 4.

He added that the promotion also helps to keep employment among staff and they are also occupied with activities.

Although the government allows members of the public to stay at hotels during the MCO, Adrian said occupancy is still low, as people are not allowed to travel inter-district.

Also adapting to the changes is Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa (STAR) which has had their food and beverage services team operate from an open space at the premises.

From 11am to 8pm daily, the hotel sets up stalls for motorists to take away food from its TATU cafe, Shang Palace and Coco Joe's outlets.

Before ordering food, patrons are required to have their temperatures scanned and check-in with the MySejahtera application.
