KOTA KINABALU: A hand phone shop owner who had previously ignored warnings on flouting the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during Movement Control Order paid the price for his defiance after being issued a RM1,000 compound.
Sabah Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry director Georgie Abas said the shop owner was warned on Jan 26 for failing to set up a temperature screening device and record the details of customers who patronise the shop.
"A follow-up inspection on Feb 4 showed that the owner still did not heed to the instructions detailed in a warning letter issued on Jan 26.
"The owner also failed to record his workers' attendance, either via the MySejahtera app or manually," he said in a statement.
Georgie said the businessman had been issued with a RM1,000 compound under Regulation 15 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
He said the business owner was not present at the shop when the compound was issued.
Since Jan 13 until yesterday, the ministry had inspected 7,481 business premises and issued warnings to 11 to follow the SOP.
