KOTA KINABALU: Blu Hope will be launching its core programmes to help protect Sabah marine biodiversity, especially the Coral Triangle.
The three programmes are Sabah Plastic Neutral, Rewild Carbon/Plastic App and Life is Water.
The non-governmental organisation founder Simon Christopher said the launch would be held virtually during its day-long webinar in conjunction with World Commonwealth Day tomorrow.
"We are going to kickstart our five-year roadmap in educating and providing solutions to people about plastic, clean water, and fish bombing among others.
"Sabah is blessed with diverse biodiversity where people have beautiful marine life and Mount Kinabalu in the same place. We have to protect it for future generations.
"(Moreover) as tourism activities are affected, it is the right time now to do the restoration works," he said, adding the initiative would also put Sabah as an example in the world map in championing the battle.
Christopher added that the launching of Rewild Carbon/Plastic App would change the behaviour of people by having them value their waste that can be exchanged for money.
As for the "Water is Life", Blu Hope co-founder Monica Chin said there will be educational and awareness programmes by engaging students from 1,296 schools in the state.
"We also welcome volunteers and partners to be part of these projects in as many ways that they can contribute," she said.
The webinar will start at 9am with the first topic welcoming the Commonwealth day, followed by a story of Blu Hope, fish bombing, and WWF Malaysia shark showcase.
Launching for the Sabah Plastic Neutral, Rewild Carbon/Plastic app and Life is Water will be from 3.30pm-5.30pm.
