KOTA BELUD: A preschool teacher who attended a funeral is the index case for the Siasai Tamu Covid-19 cluster here.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the symptomatic 46-year-old woman was detected when she was screened at a medical centre.

"Based on records, the index case had attended a funeral at her sister's house where six people were also infected.

"Another four were detected from screening at the school (where she is teaching)," he said in a statement, adding to date, 162 people have been screened with 11 tested positive.

Following the risks of high infectivity from Kampung Siasai and Kampung Lebok Moyoh in the district, the Health Ministry has decided to implement Enhanced Movement Control Order for both localities from tomorrow until April 8.

Masidi said the movement restriction was to prevent the spread of infection in the community.

Meanwhile, a palm oil factory worker who travelled across zones to visit sick family members contracted Covid-19 and became the index case for the Tenegang cluster in Kinabatangan.

The cluster also saw 12 of his family members and seven coworkers infected.

"Screening activities are still ongoing to evaluate whether the infection might have spread further to adjacent plantations."

Today, Sabah reported 70 cases with 85 people being discharged.
