KOTA KINABALU: Api Api community development leader Oliver Majaham, 44, urged the public to register for the Covid-19 vaccination programme via the MySejahtera application.

He also advised members of the community not to focus on the brand of the vaccine, saying the government would not allow these vaccines to be administered on the people if they were unsafe.

"Regardless of the brand, whether they are Pfizer or Sinovac, all vaccines are proven by the experts that they are equally effective.

"The authorities would not have allowed vaccines to be given to the people without taking into account their safety."

As of March 17, only 268,000 people or nine per cent of those in Sabah have registered for the Covid-19 vaccination via the MySejahtera application, which is among the lowest compared with other states.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had also said that the government is mulling to set a deadline for the registration so that the Covid-19 immunisation task force could better plan their programmes.

Last week, the country began using Sinovac for the ongoing nationwide vaccination with the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin becoming the first recipient to boost the public's confidence with the Chinese vaccine which is now available apart from the Pfizer-BioNTech.
