KOTA KINABALU: South Korean company SK Nexillis is bringing in an investment worth RM2.3 billion into the state by setting up its first overseas copper foil manufacturing plant at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).

During a meeting between Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the Fortune 500 company's entourage led by its Vice President Lee Hyun Woo at Sri Gaya here today, the state government assured assistance in facilitating the SK Nexillis investment here.

The company, which is a subsidiary of SKC Co, is expected to create 400 job opportunities through the setting up of the plant which is expected to commence construction in July.

"The investment will complement an aspect of Sabah's investment focus on the manufacturing sector of electric vehicle components (EV). In general, it will create a positive chain reaction on the state's economy.

"I hope SK Nexillis' venture into Sabah will catch the eyes of other global companies and more from Korea to come and invest here," said Hajiji when met.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister and Industrial Development Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong and officials from Invest Sabah, KKIP and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida).
