KOTA KINABALU: The authorities here today conducted random inspections on compliance of the one-hour limit at business premises.

Sabah Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs ministry director Georgie Abas said the time limit was part of the government's efforts to prevent overcrowding at premises such as shopping malls, hypermarkets, supermarkets, mini and retail markets.

"Overall checks found that a customer spent about 45 minutes at business premises.

"The longest someone spent was an hour and a half while the shortest was one minute," he said in a statement.

He said the ministry also advised people to plan their journeys and list down their shopping items so they can observe the time limit.

Georgie added the enforcement unit also checked if tenants followed the standard operating procedures by limiting visitors and putting up one-hour limit notices at their entrance.

"The spread of Covid-19 can only be stopped if everyone plays their role and follows the guidelines."

Meanwhile, for the monitoring of the 2021 harvest festival maximum price scheme, the authorities inspected 184 premises since yesterday.

Georgie added there were 11 items listed under the festive price scheme including chicken, eggs, imported beef and pork.

Out of 11 items, he said only the prices of chicken wings and pork belly went up.
