KOTA KINABALU: A septuagenarian who died and later taken to the Tawau Hospital for post mortem is the index case for Kg Blok 31 cluster.
The 71-year-old housewife was tested positive when the body arrived at the district hospital on May 27.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the cluster, with a cumulative of 31 cases, was triggered following Raya Aidilfitri visits.
As for the Gambaron cluster in Telupid, Sandakan, Masidi said it was associated with workplace and social gathering.
The index case is a 32-year-old man who developed fever, cough and shortness of breath since May 26 before he was tested positive on June 2 at the Telupid health clinic.
Follow up screening found eight cases at the workplace at Kampung Gambaron and surrounding areas and another one in Sandakan.
"Based on the investigation, the index case is also believed to be infected while attending a social meeting with contacts on May 22 at a cafe in Telupid.
"The spreading of cases were also contributed by his colleagues that came back from a high risk area in Tawau to celebrate Aidilfitri between May 7 and 16."
