KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has imposed additional temporary restrictions after daily Covid-19 infections surged past the 300 mark to register 308 cases today.
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the restrictions would take effect from tomorrow to June 2.
"The state Disaster Management Committee, based on advice from the state Health Department, decided to restrict dine-in at all eateries including hotels temporarily," he said in a statement.
Masidi also said that only 5 people could go jogging and cycling at a time.
Group Zumba and other exercises are also forbidden during the same period.
Commenting on the cases today, Masidi said 123 were from close contacts screening, 115 from clusters, 51 were the outcome of test conducted on symptomatic people, six were from targeted screening, one death and the rest was miscellaneous.
The Local Government and Housing minister had also earlier tweeted that people of Sabah had to brace for tougher days ahead.
"Today after months of low numbers, Sabah registered 308 new cases, mostly from existing clusters and close contacts.
"Please ensure SOP (standard operating procedure)-compliance Kaamatan. Otherwise, (the) number will continue to rise."
