PENAMPANG: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today reminded the people to remain vigilant and not breach any SOPs when celebrating the harvest festival.

"We are grateful despite our state being hit by the Covid-19 virus that we are still able to celebrate in a simple but lively atmosphere.

"(However), I would like to call upon everyone to be vigilant and always follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) to fight the Covid-19 pandemic," he said in a pre-recorded video during the closing of the state-level Kaamatan festival here.

The festival is celebrated annually by the Kadazan, Dusun Murut and Rungus communities and other ethnic communities as a sign of gratitude for the bountiful harvest.

Meanwhile, Hajiji, who is also state Finance Minister, added that it was important for the people to support the government, especially in helping the economy recover following the pandemic.

He added the state government would always strive to ensure the Halatuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan to bring development and prosperity to the people and the state.

"I would like to take this opportunity to call on the people in Sabah to always be with the Government for the prosperity and progress of this state.

"Let us give our full support to the Government so the efforts to develop and advance the country and the state can be implemented successfully."
