KOTA KINABALU: The state government will impose stricter Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) following the increase of Covid-19 cases among civil servants.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 70 per cent of government servants would work from home.
"The order will take effect immediately. The implementation is made following an increase in Covid-19 cases among civil servants, apart from the emergence of clusters throughout the state," he said in a statement.
The state government also banned civil servants and private sectors from moving between Sabah and Labuan throughout this Movement Control Order (MCO) aftee a married couple's travel between two places led to six Covid-19 cases at Kampung Manggis in Kuala Penyu.
"Sabah will also shorten all business operation hours from 9am until 6pm, and 6am until 3pm for markets."
The decision was made following today's Covid-19 cases which rose to 305 from 259 yesterday. The state also recorded six new clusters, the highest in a day so far.
Masidi, who is also state Local Government and Housing minister, said Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang were no longer considered as a free moving zone.
Starting tomorrow, the police would enhance roadblocks to prevent inter-district travel, save for those involved in essential services.
"Such a decision was made after taking into consideration of around 70 Covid-19 cases in each of the three districts."
