KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will ensure stable power supply at vaccination centres in the state and Labuan.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid was responding to a report on yesterday's blackout at a vaccination centre at the Penampang Cultural Hall, near here.
During the one-hour blackout, health staff members had to continue working under minimal lighting provided by the power generator and smartphone flashlight mode.
He said the disruption was caused by an unscheduled shutting down of power supply for repair works on a feeder on June 3, which if left unattended, would cause a major power outage.
Abdul Nasser assured that SESB's distribution control centre (DCC) would use a flagging system on all feeders that would channel power supply to vaccination centres.
"It means, should there be any activity on the feeder, the DCC will give a warning to the area management.
"SESB will monitor the vaccination centres in the state and the Federal Territory of Labuan to ensure the (power) supply is stable and will not disrupt the vaccination process."
He also said SESB would work with the Health Ministry and State Health department on getting the latest list of vaccination centres in Sabah.
"SESB has also instructed technical teams in all areas to carry out inspections at the vaccination centres.
"This is to ensure the electricity load including internal wiring of each building are in good condition."
To date, SESB's contingency plan for all Covid-19 vaccine storage locations include mobile generators and personnel on standby in the event of a power disruption.
