PENAMPANG: The vaccination programme at the Penampang Cultural Hall here had to be conducted in the dark following an hour-long blackout.
According to a vaccine recipient, who wanted to be only known as Kim, there was a power disruption at the vaccination centre from 4pm to around 5pm.
"The hall used generators for power backup but it was still not enough to light up the premises.
"Despite that, the (vaccination) process was still going on and some of us also helped by using the torchlight from our smartphones to luminate," she said, adding a vaccination centre should have better power backup for the vaccination to go on smoothly.
It is learned that with proper storage tools, the quality of the vaccines is not affected by the power outage.
Today, the centre administered a total of 438 doses of vaccines. However, 60 of the scheduled vaccine recipients did not turn up.
The surplus vaccines, which has a validity of five days, will be used for those put on standby-list tomorrow.
