TUARAN: The Sabah Chief Minister has reminded the people in the state, to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) in celebrating Hari Raya Aidiladha next week.
Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said for Muslims it would be the second year that they usher in Aidiladha during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"This time, Aidiladha reminds us of the meaning of patience.
"Celebrate the Aidiladha with your family at home and comply with the standard operating procedures," he said after handing over 108 heads of cattle at the Haji Noor mosque in Kampung Serusup, here.
Yesterday, following a spike, the Covid-19 cases in Sabah stood at 647 and following the increased infections, the state government has enforced stricter SOP for Aidiladha by barring open houses, feasts, and visiting of graves.
The Aidiladha special prayers will be allowed at mosques and surau, but with a capacity of one-third of the area, or a maximum of 30 congregation members, whichever is lower.
The number of people for 'korban' or sacrificial rites has been limited to 15 people. No other activities are allowed to be held in the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) areas.
Today, Sabah continues to see cases increase to 666 infections where more than half are from the Kepayan (211) and Tawau (124) prisons.
