KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) is giving support for restaurants to open for dine-ins.

Its vice president Datuk Junz Wong said the party had prepared a legal team in the event patrons were compounded for having meals at eateries.

On June 28, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had announced a few social and economic relaxations to be implemented the next day, while adhering to the nationwide movement control under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.

However, on June 29, the federal government had told Sabah to follow the nationwide SOP which dictates that dine-ins were still banned under Phase 1.

Following that, the state said it was still awaiting for the federal government to gazette the proposed relaxation.

"Since the Chief Minister's announcement has not been withdrawn, it is applicable.

"One, do not be afraid. Two, open your eateries. Three, allow dine-ins. Finally, follow the old SOP, until the new SOP is announced," he said in a statement.

Wong, who is also Tanjung Aru assemblyman, said those who were fined for dine-ins could contact him.

"Warisan has a team of experienced lawyers on standby, to provide free legal services.

"We will take legal action by counter-suing those who abuse power or bully you."

While there are restaurants reported to open for dine-ins, as of yesterday, only the Sandakan Municipal Council has made an official announcement.

Its president Wong Food Tin said starting today, the local authorities would allow dine-in in the district by having customers of only half the capacity of the restaurant.

"The business hours will start from 6am until 8pm. Only two people are allowed at a table," he was quoted as saying in a news report.

As for the other SOP, Wong said people have to scan their temperatures and check in with the MySejahtera application prior to entering premises.
