KOTA KINABALU: The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be meaningless without Parti Warisan Sabah.

Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee said this as Warisan is a local-based party compared to other parties in PH such as PKR and DAP, which are peninsula-based.

"In Sabah, the fact is that the main opposition party is Warisan, not PH. The only local party in PH is UPKO.

"Their (PKR/DAP) leaders in Sabah have no say. Even the secret talks, between DAP and GRS's top leaders, have to be led by DAP's supremo, Lim Guan Eng.

"Hence, any talk of any cooperation agreement with opposition parties in Sabah should realistically involve Warisan.

"Whether or not Warisan wants to be involved is a different matter to be addressed when it is time to cross the bridge," he said in a statement.

Yesterday, Sabah GRS chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said that the alliance would only decide the MoU after holding discussions with party presidents.

GRS comprises Barisan Nasional, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Rakyat Sabah, Parti Bersatu Sabah and Sabah Progressive Party.

Yong added that any co-operation agreement between GRS and opposition parties must uphold the Rule of Law.

"The cooperation pact must not be tainted by any hint of 'out of court settlement' of ongoing court cases or other litigation before any court of law."
