KOTA KINABALU: Sabah government's strategic investment arm Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB), has announced the expansion with RFK Technologies Sdn Bhd through VR Universal Langkawi.
QSB's relation to the investment is made through its subsidiary Warisan Quantum Management Sdn Bhd (WQM), whereby RFK Technologies Sdn Bhd is an investee company of WQM.
It was announced in a statement by WQM chairman Mohd Shukor Abdul Mumin during a working visit recently.
Shukor, who is also QSB executive director, said the investment made into WQM could strategically align QSB as the holding group with the rapid digital globalisation.
He said it was also to meet the ongoing changes of market demand in the entertainment industry where technological advancement and innovation are key drivers to success.
"Qhazanah's direction to participate in any prospect of investment in relation to innovation has led us into our interest in VR Universal.
"Through our subsidiary, WQM, we are hopeful to venture more into investment that harnesses technological advancement to drive innovation across various industries."
The concept of VR Universal stemmed from the objective of wanting to provide users with real life experience in theme parks and E-sports using tools and scenes generated by the computer program.
Situated in Langkawi SkyCab Park, VR Universal is expected to commence fully in October 2021.
With the recent announcement on Langkawi being listed as a region for green bubble programme, VR Universal provides the best platform as education entertainment for visiting tourists to enjoy the experience of defying reality and getting immersed in a different reality induced by the program.
"The educational journey from this entertainment establishment makes it suitable for family activities and can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
"This is what we strive for – a product that can be enjoyed by all groups of society whilst our safety is ensured. " said Shukor.
