KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has agreed to allow lottery agents and the horse racing club to resume operations tomorrow.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said it was in line with the approval by the Finance Ministry to allow both to begin operations by Sept 15.
"All employees and customers must have been fully vaccinated and have low risk status through the MySejahtera application," he said in a statement.
Today, Sabah recorded 1,649 Covid-19 cases but another 2,085 patients have been discharged.
There were 39 deaths with six each from Sandakan and Tawau, five each from Kota Belud and Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu (four), Lahad Datu and Papar (two each) and one each in Sipitang, Kudat, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Pitas, Keningau, Penampang, Kalabakan and Beluran.
"Those deaths may not necessarily have happened within 24 hours. Some of those cases took time for verification and were reported later than the actual date," said Masidi.
A new workplace cluster, Ladang Desa Jerocco 2 in Kinabatangan, involving a plantation supervisor as the index case was detected.
The symptomatic Indonesian, 39, was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Sept 1 and referred to the Kinabatangan Hospital for further treatment.
Further screening found 54 social contacts and workers positive for the virus.
As of yesterday, Sabah's full vaccination rate among the adult population was at 52.5 per cent.
