KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) will be launching its political cooperation with Parti Ikatan Demokratik Malaysia (Muda) soon.
Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the collaboration was in line with the Sabah-based party's aim of spreading its wings to Peninsular Malaysia.
"Warisan is neither a race nor religion-based party. We champion issues pertaining to the economy, education, health and safety.
"Sometimes, race-based (organisations) will become a source of disunity and disagreement. It can be very divisive.
"This is the way forward to prevent any hiccups that can hamper the development of the country," he said.
Shafie was speaking to reporters after a visit to Kampung Kopungit here, which was recently hit by a landslide.
Shafie said the collaboration with Muda, led by Muar member of parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, would be launched soon.
He said it was a way to involve the youth and have their voices heard via the platform.
"We also have found political figures to become sponsors for certain areas (in Peninsular Malaysia)."
