Young woman, child killed in Penampang landslide, 4 others survive

PENAMPANG: Two people died and another four were rescued from a landslide at Forest Hill near Bundusan area here today.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said it received a call at 3.57pm informing about two people, who had been pronounced dead by medical officers at the location.

The deceased were identified as Salmah Hamid, 25, and Rosatima Asbirin, 5.

Another four victims Risdah Jabin, 22; Norsirah Asbirin, 3; Juliana Zulazmil, 1; and Dayana Zulazmil, 8-months, survived the landslide.

As of 5pm, 14 areas - Kampung Kolopis, Kampung Baru Luyang, Bundusan, JPJ Bundusan, Penampang Proper, Kampung Sugud, Kampung Inobong, Kampung Kambau, Kampung Kolopis, Taman Manis, Kampung Nambazan, Kampung Dungkahang, Taman Sahabat and Kampung Tuavon - were affected by floods.

Three adults and two children were evacuated to Penampang Sports Complex, which has been designated as a temporary shelter for victims.
