KOTA KINABALU: The 2022 Budget is devoid of any "wow" factor for Sabah and Sarawak.
Sabah DAP secretary Chan Foong Hin said Pakatan Harapan (PH) had outlined a few proposals for Sabah and Sarawak Special Measures in the 2022 Budget's Strategic Document but not all were included.
The Kota Kinabalu member of parliament added that among the recommendations made were to bolster healthcare capabilities of both states by upgrading facilities, manpower and experts.
Apart from that, PH had also called for an allocation of RM100 million via tax incentives and grants for labor-intensive manufacturing and a RM30 million fund to encourage export of Sabah and Sarawak food products.
In supporting large-scale industrialisation, they had also called for a RM1 billion allocation to reduce dependency on high-cost power sources to provide a stable and comprehensive grid.
The proposal had also asked for the special grants under Section 1120 of the Federal Constitution to be quadrupled to RM106.8 million for Sabah and RM64 million for Sarawak.
