KOTA KINABALU: The declaration of Labuan as a Covid-19 red zone is a reminder on the dangers posed by the pandemic, Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said.
"The (infectivity) trend can change overnight should we become careless in observing the standard operating procedures (SOP).
"The spike in cases will retard and slow our efforts in returning to life as before (the pandemic).
"There are many measures and controls that have to be put in place to prevent the number of infections from increasing," he said in a statement.
Labuan, which was once successful in controling the pandemic and rolling out vaccination, returned to red two days ago.
As of 4pm, the island recorded 171 active cases with two people warded in the intensive care unit.
Masidi added that for Sabah, the state recorded 408 Covid-19 cases with one death each in Kota Marudu and Keningau.
"All districts in Sabah recorded a non-static change in the number of positive Covid-19 cases with a total of 213 cases from close contact screening."
