KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will be allocating RM2 million to each assemblyman from the ruling administration next year to help the representatives resolve issues faced by the people.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also state finance minister, told the state legislative assembly sitting today that the government will devise a mechanism on allocations for opposition lawmakers.

"This allocation will be given to all constituencies. As for the opposition constituencies, we will find a mechanism for opposition lawmakers.

"We understand that each of our constituencies will have necessities so we will find ways," he said in response to questions from opposition assemblymen on allocations for them.

Meanwhile, on the 100-year Nature Conservation Agreement (NCA) between the Sabah government and Singapore's Hoch Standard, Hajiji said the 30 per cent gross revenue sharing with the third party has yet to be finalised.

Datuk Darell Leiking (Warisan- Moyog) had asked on the possibility that Hoch Standard would get a smaller payout from the deal.

Assafal Alian (Warisan-Tungku) meanwhile, had asked on the amount of compensation the state government had to pay in case the trade becomes non-profitable.

"It is still being discussed and has not yet been finalised. We hope to pay them less so that Sabah will have more resources to help the people.

"The Senallang assemblyman (Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal) had also proposed the formation of a special committee for it.

"We will look into it. If it is necessary, we will form it so that it can be managed in a more transparent way," he said.
