KOTA KINABALU: A florist shop here is unperturbed over the increased prices of imported fresh flowers due to logistics costs.
With the limited flights bringing in imported fresh flowers, Heartiest Flowers and Gifts director Lisa Chin Yueng Ann said that the price for the items had gone up by 30 per cent.
Although they sell fresh flowers for Valentine's Day which falls tomorrow, their customers are also into soap and preserved flower products.
"Most of our customers prefer soap or preserved flowers because they are quite the trend now.
"Apart from that, these items last longer (as compared to fresh flowers), our best-seller for Valentine's Day is the Russian-style bouquet," she said, adding most of their customers are in the 20 to 40-years-old age bracket.
Chin said the prices of soap and preserved flowers are the same and the Valentine's Day edition of the items range from RM168 to RM680.
For tomorrow, Chin said her shop has received more orders, which is an increase of 40 per cent as compared to last year.
She said the increased number of orders is due to the shop having more staff to work on more bouquets for the special occasion.
"This year, we have a total of eight full-time florists."
